Dreame Robot Lawn Mowers Compared (A3 AWD 1000, 2000, Pro 2500, 3500, 5000)

By Josphat MutaiEvidence standard v1.1

Short answer

Buy the smallest Dreame whose rated area clears your lawn with room to spare, and treat the figure as a ceiling: Dreame labels it three ways, and one owner writes that a map will not build past it. Near or past 1,000 m², take the A3 AWD 2000 over the 1000, since Dreame's table gives the two one battery rating and one body and doubles only the area. Bigger lawns step to the Pro 2500, 3500 and 5000 at 2,500, 3,500 and 5,000 m², and past 5,000 m² no Dreame is rated for the lawn.

1,000, 2,000, 2,500, 3,500, 5,000. Every one of the Dreame robot lawn mowers on sale here carries a number in its name, and the number is square meters of lawn. What kind of limit it sets, Dreame never says. Its spec tables call the figure Working Area Capacity, its collection page calls it Mowing Area, and the compare block on its A3 AWD page calls it Max. Mapping Area. A buyer on Reddit asked the question outright: the most lawn a mower can cut, or the most it can map and manage? One owner, model unstated, commenting under a Pro video, writes that it is "limited to 1000m2" and that with a little more lawn it will not build a full map.

Five mowers, two bodies. The A3 AWD 1000 and A3 AWD 2000 share a compact chassis and one 7.9 in cutting disc. The A3 AWD Pro 2500, Pro 3500 and Pro 5000 share a bigger chassis with two discs cutting 15.8 in. All five navigate on OmniSense 3.0, a 360° 3D LiDAR plus binocular AI vision, with no RTK station and no boundary wire, and Dreame rates all five for 80 percent slopes. Dreame's US store calls this five models for yards from 0.25 to 1.20 acres, and our Amazon search turned up the same five plus their bundles. If the brand itself is still open, our shortlist of the best robot mowers across every brand is the place to settle it.

Behind the ladder: Dreame's two US spec tables and its mower collection page, Dreame's Amazon listings, L&B Tech Reviews' test of a Pro 2500, Freshly Charged's test of a Pro carrying the 2500's 0.62 acre and 5Ah figures, Gizmodo's week with a Pro 3500, Android Authority's hands-on with another 3500, and the 33 owners counted for our A3 AWD 2000 against Pro 3500 comparison. Nine of the 33 say which size they own.

Dreame robot lawn mowers come in two bodies

The second disc is the obvious split, and it arrives with a different machine around it. Dreame gives the compact body 635 x 434 x 295 mm and 16.1 kg, and the Pro body 740 x 532 x 325 mm and 23.9 kg. The Pro's EdgeMaster 2.0 brings the disc in under 1.2 in from the boundary, against under 1.91 on the A3 AWD, and its LiDAR range is rated at 70 m against 50.

Passage width is where the big body costs you: Dreame rates the A3 AWD through gaps down to 23.6 in and the Pro down to 31.5, so a lawn behind a side gate between those two widths gets the compact pair or no Dreame at all.

Within each body the spec tables barely move from size to size. On the A3 AWD table the only line that changes is working area. On the Pro table it is working area and battery, and that short list is the whole ladder.

A3 AWD 1000 and 2000: one mower, two ceilings

Dreame prints one set of figures for both sizes: the 5Ah battery, the 7.9 in disc, the 16.1 kg body, up to 150 zones. Working Area Capacity is the line that splits, at 1,000 m² (0.25 acre) for the 1000 and 2,000 m² (0.50 acre) for the 2000. So the 2000's extra 1,000 m² does not come from a higher battery rating.

Both non-Pro listings put "45-Min Fast Charge" in the title and credit a 5A adapter for it, though an A3 AWD 2000 owner times approximately 90 minutes of mowing before it docks and about 50 minutes on the charger.

The listings also share a size bullet, designed for lawns up to 0.25 to 0.50 acre, which is the range of the whole series. On the 1000 that is the wrong half: the same listing's title says it maps 0.25 acres. Go by Dreame's table.

That leaves the 1000 one job, a lawn well under 1,000 m². Near the line, the 2000 is the same mower on Dreame's table with twice the room. Five owners in our count name one of the two, three of them a 1000 and two a 2000. One 1000 owner sent theirs back on finding it had a single cutting disc and bought a Pro 2500 instead, a second had a 1000 arrive with an abnormal wheel and an abnormal cutting disc, and a third has never been more frustrated. Both 2000 owners report the LiDAR overheating, one of them on an 86F day in North Carolina.

Pro 2500, 3500 and 5000: one deck, three batteries

Dreame's Pro table lists the body, the 40 cm deck, the slope rating and a 5A charging current once for the A3 AWD Pro 2500, A3 AWD Pro 3500 and A3 AWD Pro 5000. Two lines split. Working area runs 2,500, 3,500 and 5,000 m², and the battery 5Ah, 7.5Ah and 10Ah.

The cut does not get faster as you climb. Dreame's Amazon listings give the Pro 2500's Rush mode 8611 sq ft per hour and the Pro 5000's about 0.2 acres per hour, the same pace in two units. So the 5000 pairs twice the 2500's area with twice the battery on an identical deck. Android Authority's hands-on calls battery capacity the one internal difference and singles out the 5000's 10Ah pack. Dreame's table gives each Pro size a pack of its own.

The Pro 2500 carries the same 5Ah battery rating as the A3 AWD 2000. L&B Tech Reviews, testing a Pro 2500, lists 90 minutes of mowing and 60 of charging on a 5,000 mAh pack, and its verdict is that the A3 AWD Pro is the best robotic lawnmower its tester has tried. L&B also lists four Pro sizes, adding 1,000 m². Dreame's US collection lists three and says the Pro 2500 and Pro 5000 are sold only in the US, so the two sources do not agree.

Owners of the bigger two split. Of the two who name a Pro 3500, one reports great success and the other is returning theirs: it would not find its dock, buzzed, dropped its connection and had its LiDAR overheat mid-mow. Gizmodo's 3500 still had about 65% charge after the tester's whole 2,400 square foot yard. The two who name a Pro 5000 both hit heat. One, in Florida, had it overheat between 11 am and 4:30 pm, get lost and dig in with its omni wheels, and sent it back. The other, in France, avoids afternoon mowing in the heat and has seen it go back to base to cool its LiDAR, yet finds the battery unbelievable and regrets nothing. Their first big run stopped at 80 percent behind a narrow choke point until they split the yard into zones.

Heat is a line problem, not a 5000 one. Seven of the 33 owners report it, both 2000 owners among them.

Where to stop on the Dreame ladder

Two measurements come before any model number: the lawn's area and the narrowest gap the mower has to pass. Measuring a lawn against a rating covers the first. Measure in square meters, because Dreame's acre figures are rounded: the 5000 reads 1.20 acre on Dreame's pages, 1.25 on its Amazon listing and roughly 1.24 at Android Authority.

Start with the gate. Under 23.6 in, no Dreame is rated to pass it. Between 23.6 and 31.5 in only the compact pair is, which means the 1000 for a lawn well under 1,000 m² and the 2000 up to 2,000 m². Bigger than that behind a gate that narrow, no Dreame does both jobs.

With 31.5 in or more to work with, the lawn picks the rung. Under 2,000 m² the choice is between bodies, one disc or two, and the comparison linked above weighs it. Up to 2,500 m², the Pro 2500. To 3,500, the Pro 3500. To 5,000, the Pro 5000. Past 5,000 m², Dreame does not rate any mower for the lawn.

Whichever rung it is, leave headroom and keep the schedule out of the hottest hours. A lawn measured right at a rated ceiling has no margin for the strip the tape missed.
