Which rung to stop at.

A brand rarely sells one model. It sells a ladder, and the question underneath every pairing in it is the same one: what actually changes between the rungs, and which one is worth the money for you.

Roborock Robot Lawn Mowers Compared (Q110H, X115H, X120H LiDAR, X130H)

For a lawn shaded by a house or trees and well inside half an acre, stop at the X120H LiDAR. It shares the RTK X1's four-wheel-drive chassis, deck and 80 percent slope rating and needs no satellite fix, but it mows slowly. On open lawns the X115H covers up to 3/8 acre and the X130H from there to 1 acre; past an acre, no Roborock is rated for the lawn. The RockNeo Q110H suits only a flat quarter acre, and no source we read tests a Roborock on a big shaded lawn.

Robotic Pool Cleaners · 6 rungs

Beatbot Robotic Pool Cleaners Compared (Sora 10, 30, 70, AquaSense 2, 2 Ultra, X)

Most in-ground pools should stop at the Sora 30, or the Sora 70 if leaves land on the water. The AquaSense 2 loses to the newer Sora 10 on suction, basket and floor runtime. Pay for the AquaSense 2 Ultra for its AI camera mapping and clarifier on a pool with no tanning shelf to clean, and the AquaSense X only if you have a spot with power, a water supply and a drain for its rinse station.

Bandsaws · 3 rungs

Powermatic Bandsaws Compared (PWBS-14CS, PM1500, PM1500T)

Most shops land on the PM1500: 14 inches of resaw and a 3 HP motor on its own 230 volt circuit, more than double the PWBS-14CS's resaw and current draw for double the horsepower. Step up to the PM1500T only if a low-friction, corrosion-resistant table and a seven-stop miter gauge are worth paying more for, since every capacity, motor and weight figure between the two is identical. Step down to the PWBS-14CS only if a 115 volt circuit or the smaller footprint matters more than resaw depth, and know that reaching 230 volt on it means rewiring the motor and swapping the plug, not flipping a switch.

Dust Collectors and Cyclones · 4 rungs

JET Dust Collectors Compared (JCDC-2, DC-1200VX-CK1, DC-1200VX-CK3, JCDC-3)

Most small shops want the JCDC-2: a 2 HP cyclone with 1 micron, MERV 13 filtration dropping chips into a drum, on a standard 230 volt single phase circuit. The DC-1200VX-CK1 trades that for a higher claimed 1200 CFM at the same 2 HP, through a coarser 2 micron canister filter into a cloth bag, and its CK3 sibling needs three phase power almost no small shop already has. Step up to the 3 HP JCDC-3 only once one collector is feeding more than one machine at a time.

Bandsaws · 4 rungs

JET Bandsaws Compared (JWBS-14SFX, JWBS-15, JWBS-18SFX, JWBS-18SFX-3)

Most shops want the JWBS-15: 14 inches of resaw and the choice of 115 or 230 volt wiring, more resaw than the JWBS-14SFX and more flexibility than either 18 inch model, both of which JET wires for only one voltage. Step down to the 14SFX only if 13 inches of resaw covers what you actually cut, and up to an 18 inch model only once 16 inches of resaw is worth losing the voltage choice the 14SFX and 15 both keep.

Mammotion Robot Lawn Mowers Compared (LUBA 3 AWD 1500H, 3000H, 5000)

Most yards between 0.37 acre and 0.75 acre want the 3000H, the smallest rung that still carries Mammotion's Tri-Fusion positioning (LiDAR, NetRTK and AI vision). Drop to the 1500H only on a lawn inside its 0.37 acre rating, where LiDAR and AI vision carry the map with no satellite layer. Step up to the 5000 once the lawn itself is bigger than 0.75 acre. It also carries the biggest battery in the line, 15 Ah against 12 Ah on the 3000H, for 180 minutes of mowing per charge against 150.

Robot Lawn Mowers · 4 rungs

MOVA Robot Lawn Mowers Compared (LiDAX Ultra 1000, 2000, 2000 AWD, 3000 AWD)

Most half acre yards with any real slope want the 2000 AWD. The plain 1000 and 2000 are worth buying only on a small, flat lawn, since MOVA caps both at a 45 percent slope no matter which one you pay for. Skip the 3000 AWD unless the single mapped lawn itself needs to be bigger than 0.5 acre, since MOVA's own spec table gives it no more battery, runtime or per-charge mowing area than the 2000 AWD.

WORX Robot Lawn Mowers Compared (WR341, WR342, WR344, WR346)

Most yards want the WR342. Step down to the WR341 only if a quarter acre is a hard ceiling. Step up to the WR344 or WR346 only once the extra acreage is the actual reason you are paying more, and the 4G radio or the headlight bundled with it is not.
